Ponche Crema (Venezuelan Eggnog) is a traditional holiday drink served in a glass with peppermint candy rim.

Celebrate the holidays with one of my favorite Venezuelan traditions – Ponche Crema! It is a traditional eggnog-like Christmas drink that we only serve during holiday gatherings and like good latinos – we party a lot! Which is why this recipe is great; it is really simple to make, it only take a few minutes of prep, no special equipment and store-bought ingredients.

What is Ponche Crema?

Ponche Crema is a creamy, custard-based drink that originated in Venezuela but unlike traditional eggnog, Ponche is made with rum instead of brandy, giving it a uniquely smooth and flavorful twist.

There are two versions of Ponche you can find in most Venezuelan homes; the easy no-cook one I’m sharing with you and a “harder” version that requires some cooking.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Texture: Rich, creamy, and smooth.
  • Flavor: Deliciously sweet, notes of vanilla and boozy (if you add rum).
