Homemade Baked Apple Cider Donuts
Homemade baked apple cider donuts are the perfect fall treat. Covered in browned butter and cinnamon sugar and topped with warm maple.
These are one of my favorite donuts ever! They are super quick to make and taste like the apple orchard bakery kind (without the extra oil). These baked apple cider donuts are cake and tender, perfect for a cozy breakfast with a creamy delicious oat milk latte.
How to make baked apple cider donuts
This apple cider donut recipe could not be any easier! Baked donuts are much healthier (obviously) but also way less intimidating and take less time. There’s no rising or down time. Overall, these take under an hour, from beginning to end, meaning your kitchen will be clean and your belly happy in no time.
For this recipe you’re going to need apple cider (I bought mine at Trader Joe’s), but you can get it anywhere during the fall. You can also make your own, which I have yet to try!
The most important step here is to reduce the cider to about half. You do this by bringing 2 cups to a boil and let it reduce for 10-15 minutes (it took me 12 minutes exactly). Make sure this cools before mixing it in with the rest of the wet ingredients. As a general rule, make sure your ingredients are all close to room temperature.
You’re going to need 2 separate bowls. One for all the dry ingredients and one for the wet. Then, combine the wet with the dry and transfer the batter to a piping bag (or ziplock) to pipe it into each donut cup. Bake for 15 minutes and done!!
Best topping for baked apple cider donuts
To make these baked apple cider donuts EVEN BETTER, I browned some butter and brushed each one using a pastry brush. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, sugar and cinnamon (to make cinnamon sugar), and coat each donut.
When ready to serve, warm up some maple syrup (in the microwave is ok), and dunk your donut in syrup. OMG. Seriously, this is the best part!
I’m so happy you’re making one of my recipes, and would love to see how it turns out! Share it on Instagram using #yogaofcooking so I can see it, it always makes my day!
Happy Fall Baking! xo
